‘FB friend’ extorts Rs 1.7L from 69-yr-old after nude video call

Saajan, a 69-year-old man from Gunjur near Whitefield, Bengaluru, was extorted Rs 1.7 lakh after befriending a woman named Komal Sharma on Facebook. After a video call where the woman posed nude, Saajan received threats from miscreants who demanded money in exchange for not uploading the videos and photos on social media. Saajan panicked and transferred the money, but the extortion continued. He eventually reported the incident to the police. An investigation is underway to determine if Saajan's videos were morphed.

We will complete the search operation soon. However, we request parents not to panic," he said, adding, "Last year too, miscreants had sent similar emails to many schools in the city," the top cop said.
